On-Site Generation
Generation at your facility to avoid outages and cut peak demand charges.
What it means
On-site generation means producing electricity at the facility itself rather than drawing all of it from the grid. It covers a range of equipment, standby generators, combined heat and power, solar, and battery storage among them.
Businesses use it for two different reasons, and they are worth separating. The first is resilience: keeping operations running through an outage. The second is cost: running on-site capacity during the facility’s highest-demand periods so that less of that peak is drawn from the grid.
Why facilities install it
- Eliminating the operational cost of a grid outage
- Reducing peak demand charges by shaving the highest-demand intervals
- Supporting participation in demand response programs
- Adding capacity when the grid connection limits expansion
Our role

Demand charges are billed on your highest measured demand in a period, so reducing a few intervals can change the bill more than reducing total usage.
